Week 9

St. Joseph Robotics Competiton

Team Lance-A-Bot participated in the robotics competition hosted by St. Joseph High School. It was another great weekend for us, the team went all the way up to the finals match! Unfortunately, we did not win, but our alliance got 2nd place, which is still amazing!

We were chosen by the team captain of Alliance 3 #3452, the GreengineerZ, to join their alliance and we said yes. The team captain also chose team #5227, the Eagle Elite to join the alliance as well. When team Eagle Elites robot broke down partway through the playoffs, team #9758, Pantron-X took their place until the Eagles Elites could fix their robot and hop back in.

Our alliance pushed all the way to the finals, where our alliance was up against Alliance 1 which consisted of #2054, the Tech Vikes, #2767 Stryke Force, #5610 Turbulence, and #5501 the Bobcats. Both alliance fought very hard, but in the end Alliance 1 pulled out on top. Both alliances did a very good job in the competition!

In addition of earning the finalist award, we were also given the Sustainability award for our ability of recruiting and training of Team Lance-A-Bots members, as well as our participation in cleaning up a section of road on Red Arrow Highway for adopt-a-highway. We try to participate in this activity every year. We also host the FLL/Lance-A-Bot Mania event for kids in elementary school interested in robotics.

Overall we had a great time at the St. Joseph District event, and we hope St. Joseph High School continues to host this event! Thank you St. Joseph High School!

The design team worked on the climbing bracket, protecting the limit switches inside the robot, designing a better-built guard, and worked on the AMP. They did lots of good work this week!

The software team was doing plenty as well this week! They figured out how to make the intake work, figured out how one button works on the controllers, figured out the cycle commands, and the autonomous code.

The business team was busy this week distributing t-shirts, put our sponsors on the back side of the t-shirts, and we have over 1000 buttons for our first competition!

Week 4

This week was a big week for team Lance-A-Bot! Here’s what we did:

The Business team was very honored to have the Lakeshore Lions Club at our school this week! Build sub-team captain Cole Miller and team captain Sam Velasco presented a slideshow about Team Lance-A-Bot to them.
Not only did we do that, but we also continued working on our pamphlets for our judges and started writing the essay for the Woodie Flower Award!

The software team was doing lots of coding this week. They wrote commands for the intake, updated the system for the robot location input, and completed coding the shuffleboard!

The build team started building the robot this week! They got the chassis on the swerve drive attached, and they worked on the side panel of the robot. They also started having build-a-thons, so many of them are going to be working extra hours on Fridays!

The design team has finished designing the robot, but they aren’t done yet! They almost finished the electrical panel and our robot climber design. Next week they’ll start their pneumatic design.

Team Lance-A-Bot needs to have some fun too! Although, make sure to not have too much fun, like our friend Riley did…
We had a dance party after a meeting and danced to Party in the USA and Call Me Maybe! Some of our members have some serious moves.

The design team was busy designing the robot this week, and they managed to finish the design process as well!
Go, design team!

The Software team was busy coding the robot this week. They coded the sub-systems, worked on the robot commands, and labeled/configured swerve moduels!

The build team got ready to start building the robot this week. They deburred a chassis, finished the field prototypes, worked on some swerve modules, and worked on the April tag (that will be very important).

The business team was busy working on pamphlets that judges will view for the basics of what each team does, and completely updating the website!

Week 1 and 2

We have finally begun our journey for the 2024 FRC competition Crescendo! All of us are very excited and can’t wait for our first competition.

Our first week was full of prototyping our robots. We had many good ideas, but in the end we decided on a intake prototype and a shooter prototype.

Our second week was the week where we started designing our robot. It was also a week with lots and lots of snow, and we couldn’t meet up a lot of times during the week. Luckily we were able to meet up a few times and was able to get plenty of work done.

But the design team wasn’t the only one who was busy. The rest of the teams were getting to work as well.

The Software team started to work on the robot programming for different parts of the robot, like the intake, shooter, etc.

The build team finished up their prototypes and started making game pieces for the robot. They made the amp and the speaker all out of wood!

The Business team worked on making a pamphlet of talking points for the judges, safety kits to pass out during the competitions, and fully updated our current website! If you’d like to view the website, go to https://www.lakeshorerobotics.com
