Happy Kick-Off teams! With the season in full swing now, our teams have been getting busy preparing ourselves for the season. Here’s what we’ve done this week:

The Design team has been the busiest this week, as they have begun developing the designs for various parts of our robot, including the shooter, intake, hopper (where we hold the fuel), and others. They also began prototyping those parts to see what would work well and what wouldn’t.
The Design team had their first CAD-A-Thon on Friday! They worked hard to figure out who was going to design which part, how long it would take, and other important details regarding the robot.
The next couple of weeks will be very busy for them, but they have made great progress.

The build team is working on taping our field and building field elements so when our robot is ready to start testing, the field is all built and ready. They’ve also been helping the Design team create the prototypes to help progress with their robot part projects.
Our software team has also been working with the design team to start coding their different motors and swerve drives, so that when the design is finalized, they have all the correct information and data for their future programming
The business team has been working on updating the social media and the website this week. They’ve also been working on what the logo for the buttons will be, as well as starting to send out sponsor newsletters.

We had a great kick-off! Many of our team members were able to talk to other teams about different aspects of what their sub-team does during the breakout rooms, and were able to give our valuable insight that could help other teams. Our own team captain, Cole Miller, also gave a speech in front of everyone and talked about his experiences with FIRST and how FIRST and robotics changed his life.

After the kick-off, our team went back and had a meeting about this year’s game. We talked about the rules of the game, watched this year’s game video multiple times, and talked about potential designs of what we wanted our robot to have. We’re excited for what this year is going to bring for Lakeshore Robotics!
